Families still picking up from Irma

Hurricane hit area 100 days ago

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Hurricane Irma ripped into Northeast Florida about 100 days ago. Many families are still cleaning and picking up damage.

One of the hardest hit areas was the South Shores neighborhood. A homeowner told us her home was flooded. She was just able to return home.

"It's nerve-wracking to know when you lose everything, you don't really know where to go, you don't where to start," Courtney Green said. "It's just been a nightmare."

Green says she'd still waiting for homeowners insurance to send them a check. She says her front yard is still littered with debris.

She must do renovations to her home, not just because of flood damage, but because of health concerns too.

If you still have debris to deal with, please let us know. We'd love to hear from you.

In Duval County, the second phase of debris collection wrapped up in November. Any storm debris is now being picked up on your regularly scheduled trash date.

Clay County's last day for debris pick up was Friday, Dec. 15. You'll now have to dispose of it yourself.

We are still working to learn what the plans in St. Johns County are.
