ORANGE PARK, Fla. – A 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday in a crash in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a Chevy Malibu driven by an 84-year-old woman collided with a motorcycle at Blanding Boulevard and Londonderry Drive in the Lakeside area of Orange Park.

The motorcyclist, 36-year-old Joseph Canady, was taken to Orange Park Medical Center, where he died.

The driver of the Malibu was not hurt and is cooperating with law enforcement, troopers said.

According to the FHP report, the Malibu was sitting in a left turn lane waiting to turn into a Walmart on Blanding Boulevard. Troopers said the preliminary information was that the Malibu's light was green, but it did not have a left turn arrow.

The Malibu turned into the intersection and into the path of Canady's motorcycle, which had just maneuvered from behind a vehicle in the center lane to the right lane before entering the intersection, the report said.

Charges are pending.

A family friend told News4Jax that Canady was a newlywed, and left behind five children (pictured above). A Go-Fund Me was set up to help with funeral expenses and to help his wife take care of the family.
