JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This Friday, April 30, is the deadline for Florida parents to enroll their children in a Florida Prepaid college plan. The program allows families to lock in the tuition price for a future college education; monthly payments can start as soon as a child is born.

Florida Prepaid College Board spokeswoman Shannon Colavecchio told WJCT’s Melissa Ross on First Coast Connect that even during the pandemic, prepaid enrollments have not slowed down.

“I think for a family that feels like there isn’t much they can count on nowadays it is something that a parent can do and feel good that they’re doing that for their child, and more importantly, they can choose the plan they’re saving for, so they can do it in a way that fits their budget.”

Florida Prepaid plans can be used at in-state and out-of-state schools. Any money that’s not used is refunded. You can sign up at myfloridaprepaid.com.
