GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Police Department arrested a burglary and rape suspect Friday evening.
Police say they were called to a house where a naked woman was found by a neighbor. The address was not released to protect the victim's identity.

Police say the woman lives in an abandoned house where she rents out rooms. The 27-year-old man arrested, Thomas J. Smith, was not a resident and was not a guest. Authorities say he barged into the home and demanded money from the woman.
Police say he slapped her, raped her and left. Investigators say the woman knows Smith and was identified by other witnesses at the home as well.
Smith was arrested without incident Friday night.
