GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two people were robbed at gunpoint early Friday while sitting at a bus stop bench along West University Avenue near Northwest 9th Street, the Gainesville Police Department said.
The victims told police at about 2:20 a.m. they were approached by a man who put a gun to their heads and took a cellphone and wallet with cash and cards inside.

The victims described the alleged robber as a black male about 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a black T-shirt and khaki cargo pants. He was last seen headed north on foot, police said.
The victims waited about 20 minutes before reporting the robbery to police because first called friends who tried to track the cellphone without success.
