PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Nearly a month after police say a retired police officer shot dead a man during an argument over texting in a Florida movie theater, bikers held a fundraiser to help raise money for the man's family.

Around a thousand motorcyclists came out Sunday for the Chad Oulson Memorial Run in Port Richey.

At the finish line was his wife, Nicole and their two year-old daughter, Alexis.

Friends say Oulson who didn't have life insurance loved dirt bikes and motorcross. According to The Tampa Bay Times the group honored the 43 year-old by wearing what he wore at motorcross events. They wore green shirts.

Authorities say Oulson was with his wife Nicole at the movie theater to see a movie when retired police officer Curtis Reeves confronted him about texting.  Oulson was said to be texting the person watching Alexis.

Police say the argument led to Reeves pulling a gun and killing Oulson.

Reeves faces charges of second-degree murder.
