Board deciding Fla. State digital film school move

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Board of Governors is ordering Florida State University to move its digital film program from West Palm Beach to the school's main campus in Tallahassee.

The board issued the directive Thursday during a conference call meeting with only one dissenting vote.

Florida State had been partnering with a private company, Digital Domain, in West Palm Beach. The firm, though, filed for Chapter 11 federal bankruptcy protection and has closed its new animation studio in nearby Port St. Lucie.

University officials wanted to keep the program in South Florida to attract top faculty and students and have been looking for a new partner.

The board also approved an online learning plan that includes designating a single school to take the lead for the entire university system.
