Deputies: Sexual predator illegally moved to home near playground

Thomas Woodard, 26, held without bond

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – A convicted sexual predator was arrested Tuesday after he failed to register a new address and moved to a home that's near a Middleburg playground, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Thomas Woodard, 26, was living on Trail Ridge Road within 100 feet of the playground. By law, he was not allowed to be within 1,000 feet of a playground.

Woodard was convicted in Duval County of sexual battery on a child younger than 12. Records show in 2016, he was found guilty of failing to register as a convicted predator.

As of Tuesday night, Woodard was held without bond in the Clay County Jail. After appearing before a judge Wednesday, his bond was reset to $100,000.
