ORANGE PARK, Fla. - A 26-year-old Middleburg man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash Tuesday morning in Orange Park, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Just before 8 a.m., troopers said, Clay County deputies found the man, identified as Dorrien Earl Mann, lying on Capella Road between Uranus Lane and Centura Drive -- in a residential area several blocks off Blanding Boulevard.

Paramedics pronounced Mann dead at the scene.

Traffic was blocked near the scene all morning and troopers asked drivers to avoid the area. The FHP had no information about the vehicle that struck the man.

It was the second deadly crash troopers in Northeast Florida investigated Tuesday.

Residents told News4Jax that they’re not surprised by what happened Tuesday morning because they feel too many people speed through the area, especially while children are outside playing and people are walking around the neighborhood.

"We usually put cones out here just to make sure people slow down because we're so worried about that happening," said parent Patrick Kelsey.

Rodney Taylor said the biggest concerns for him and his neighbors are "speeders, people driving recklessly."

That's why, Kelsey said, he talks to his children about being safe.

“I want them to know this is how life is. This is dangerous. It is a road," Kelsey said. "You need to watch out because they’re not watching out for you."

Anyone with information about the driver involved in the hit-and-run crash is urged to contact the Highway Patrol.
