2 overnight shootings, 1 location

1 victim shot in the leg, other victim shot in the back

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating two shootings that happened early Saturday morning, both at the same location, according to JSO.

Detectives responded to 8764 Merseyside Avenue in Northwest Jacksonville Saturday morning around 1:38 a.m. in reference to a person shot.

"My cousin and I, we were just up talking when we heard, 'pow! pow! Pow!'" said neighbor Danchelle Jones.

When they arrived to the scene, JSO learned the victim was being driven to the hospital by an unknown person. While en route to the hospital, the victim flagged down rescue from the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department near Trout River and New Kings Road.

"We went to the window and then I saw, somebody looked like they were fighting outside," Jones said.

The victim had a non life-threatening gun shot wound to the leg and was taken to UF Health.

Around 3:20 a.m. Saturday a second victim walked into UF Health with a non life-threatening gun shot wound to the back. According to JSO, this shooting happened at the same location as the previous shooting.

JSO's Violent Crimes Task Force is conducting the investigation and if there is anyone that has any information, call 630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
