JFRD responds to vacant house fire

Early morning fire could possibly be arson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fire rescue officials responded to a house fire early Friday morning after a neighbor called 911, according to the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department.

Shortly after 4 a.m. Friday morning, JFRD responded to the 2800 block of Fitzgerald Street on the Westside after a neighbor saw smoke and called 911.

The house was vacant, but up for rent and officials were able to put the fire out quickly, according to JFRD.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

JFRD said this could possibly be arson and the State Fire Marshal is investigating.
