Job and Resource Fair planned at Prime Osborn Convention Center

Hundreds will be hired in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - If your looking for a job, you just might be in luck. Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown and Congresswoman Corrine Brown are sponsoring a Job and Resource Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday June 10th.

"This is a great opportunity for those out there still looking for employment. We are anticipating more than 100 corporations," said Ken Johnson who works with the military affairs, veterans and disabled services office.

The companies that will be hiring will be both big and small including ADT Security, The City of Jacksonville, Comcast, Florida Blue, Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Humana, Jacksonville Port Authority, Michael's, Republic Services, Sears Logistics Services, St. Vincents Healthcare, Wendy's, Walmart and Worksource.

"There will also be a number of job readiness workshops at this years resource fair. Professionals will be onsite to help potential employees with interviewing skills, job preparation. They will even be able to help people create and print their resumes," said Johnson.

The job readiness workshops will be conducted by Goodwill Industries, Work Source and the Jacksonville Urban League. The sessions are designed to enhance applicant interview skills.

"If your serious about finding a job, the opportunities will be there. Some people will be able to interview right there on the spot. So be ready," said Johnson.
