Man shot in attempted carjacking on Westside

Victim suffers non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in neck

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man is recovering in the hospital after he was shot during an attempted carjacking on the Westside Monday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said an attempted carjacking occurred at 9:50 p.m. on 2045 Jammes Road, just south of San Juan Avenue.

Police said a man asked for a ride, but the victim refused. The man then demanded the victim get out of the vehicle.

When the victim drove off, the man shot him in the neck, according to JSO.

The shooter fled the scene.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not released a suspect description in this case.
