Memorial for teen vandalized

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Family members of a 17-year-old who was killed in Northwest Jacksonville last week are upset.  They say the memorial for the teen was trashed.

The memorial was set up in the yard, where 17-year-old Erinn Brooks' body was seen by children on Tuesday, who were heading to school near Fourth Street and Clyde Drive.

Gail Bido, Brooks' aunt, says there appear to be tire tracks in the area and that candles were scattered everywhere.

"I'm just angry and upset.  They came by again to terrorize this neighbor.  For them to be able to
do - it's just horrifying," said Bido.

Bido and her family are spending their first Easter without Brooks.

"There's candles and stuff that's smooshed in all over the place and everything and they're broken and there's glass everywhere," said Bido.

Police are not releasing details about how exactly the teen died.  People in the area say they heard gunshots Monday night, but police say no one reported any shots.

"It shouldn't be the norm that you hear gunshots and you just go to bed," Bido told Channel 4.

Brooks was a junior at Raines High School.  Friends and family brought cards, flowers, and teddy bears to remember the teen at a memorial on Wednesday.

Police have not released any information about a suspect in connection with Brooks' death. Meanwhile a family tries to heal.

"We're just going to be a family.  That's all we can do," said Bido.

Family members are asking anyone who knows anything in the community to come forward.
