MLK Pkwy reopens 6½ hours after big rig overturns

No one hurt after driver lost control of tractor-trailer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A portion of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway was closed all Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer overturned, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

According to JSO Sgt. Farand Lockett, the big rig was heading east on MLK Parkway around 6 a.m. when the driver failed to negotiate one of the construction detours, causing him to lose control, sending the truck onto its side.

No one was injured in the crash.

Lockett said the tractor-trailer was carrying aluminum materials. A fuel leak caused by the accident was quickly cleaned up, but the highway was not reopened until 12:30 p.m.
