JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating whether two separate shootings on the Northside Wednesday night are related after one person was found dead and another was shot.

Around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, patrol units responded to Lorenzo Court, off Moncrief Road, in reference to a person who had been shot.

They found 18-year-old Javonta Robinson dead on the side of the road.

Police don't believe the shooting occurred in a home near the scene.

"We don't believe any homes were involved. We don't know if the individual ran here and collapsed or was possibly dropped off and collapsed," said Farhat.

Farhat said a few minutes prior to the report of a shooting victim on Lorenzo Court, police received a call about another shooting on Cavalier Road. The two incidents were less than a mile apart.

"We don't know whether that's related, however, it is very close to here so we're exploring that possibility," said Farhat.

Farhat said when police arrived to the scene on Cavalier Road, a person was located with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, and was transported to UF Health Jacksonville.

"I believe that was out in the street, from what we understand it was a drive-by shooting," said Farhat.

Police met the victim at the hospital for an interview to get more details on the incident.

Police said they have no witnesses for the incident on Lorenzo Court.

"From what we understand there's was possibly a silver pickup truck on Cavalier. We don't know whether that was involved in the shooting or maybe somebody that was just leaving the area once shots were fired," said Farhat.

Police have not yet determined if the two incidents were related.

"We just know that shots were fired in close proximity to each other. There were several people seen running. We just want to do our due diligence to see if these are related. Chances are, they just might be," said Farhat.
