Skeletal remains found in transient camp

12-year-old boy finds body in woods

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 12-year-old boy returning a movie to a gas station on West Beaver Street found skeletal remains Sunday afternoon.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office told Channel 4 the boy was taking a shortcut through the woods when he came across the remains. The boy then returned home and told his dad and police were called.

Police do not suspect foul play. The area is near a well-known transient camp. Police can't say much about the body right now because of the decomposed state.

Authorities said it may take a while to officially identify the body and notify next of kin.
