JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – State Attorney Angela Corey is upset renovations to the old federal courthouse are still incomplete, requiring her office to shuttle lawyers, files and evidence nearly a mile to the County Courthouse every day. Renovation to the building was proposed in 2001 as part of the Better Jacksonville plan.
The project was supposed to be completed in June at the same time as the Duval County Courthouse, but crews have yet to begin construction.
In a letter to the City Council, Corey said the contractor, the Morgantti Group, and Public Works Department have made changes to the plan made without her office's consent, reducing the cost from 30 to 26 million dollars.

The mayor's office disagrees. They said an email record shows all parties involved have communicated on the issue and a meeting to discuss the next step has been scheduled.
City Councilman Bill Bishop said there are two viable solutions; pull back the scale of the project or find more money.
"It's gotta get done with the money that we've got," Bishop stated.
In the meantime, he says he's committed to finding an answer that everyone can be satisfied with.
"We're going to do what we can do to put pressure on this administration to move this thing along," said Bishop.
