FDLE won't probe Todashev shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. - The ACLU of Florida says the Florida Department of Law Enforcement won't investigate the death of a Chechen man who was fatally shot while being questioned about his ties to one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects.

The ACLU of Florida on Wednesday released a letter from FDLE Commissioner Gerald Bailey. In the letter, Bailey said it would be inappropriate for the Florida agency to intervene.

Todashev was killed in May while being questioned by FBI agents, Massachusetts state troopers and others.

Officials originally said Todashev had lunged at an FBI agent with a knife. They later backtracked and said it was no longer clear what happened.

An investigation is being led by the FBI.
