NAPLES, Fla. - A southwest Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting his estranged wife at a hospital.

A Collier County judge sentenced 57-year-old Jeffrey Moretz on Friday. He was convicted last month of second-degree murder.

Authorities say Moretz's wife, Christine, was visiting a co-worker at a Naples hospital in July 2011.  Moretz showed up, shot her and then turned the gun on himself. Moretz recovered, but his wife died at the scene.

The Naples Daily News reports the couple had been divorcing and in foreclosure.
