Florida man goes off when customer in front of him exceeds the limit, police say

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – An elderly Florida man is accused of attacking another Walmart customer who tried to check out more than 20 items in the express lane.

William E. Golladay, 77, faces felony battery charges for attacking 65-year-old John L. Malherbe at a Walmart in Punta Gorda over the weekend, Fort Myers TV station WZVN reported.

Malherbe told police Golladay began counting his items as he checked them out.

When Malherbe exceeded 20 items, Golladay began yelling and shoved his shopping cart into him, police said.

Golladay was escorted outside, but later returned and approached Malherbe with his fists raised.

He was again escorted outside the store.
