BRYCEVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Agriculture is conducting a criminal investigation into last week’s fire in Bryceville that blew out of control and consumed 700 acres of Nassau County woods, destroyed two homes and more than a dozen other structures.

The Florida Forestry Service said investigators could file misdemeanor charges against the man who was burning boxes of books when the fire got away from him. The man has already been cited in the case and he will be billed for the costs of fighting the fire -- a total that might be calculated by the end of the week.
