Fernandina Beach in running for best small coastal town

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – Fernandina Beach has made a big impression on vacationers and now, the small town is in the running for a national title.

USA Today is holding a contest to find the best small coastal town of 2016.

Fernandina Beach is among 20 other nominees, including St. Simons Island in Georgia and Sanibel Island on Florida's Gulf Coast.

The town is known for its unique Southern charm and beautiful coastline. It's also home to the famous Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival being held next weekend. 

Anyone can cast their vote on USA Today's online poll, which will be open until noon Monday.
