“I usually pick up a scratch-off ticket when I stop for my morning coffee, but I decided to try my luck at something new,” Albertie said. “Something inside told me I was going to win, but I still can’t believe I’m Florida’s first Cash4Life winner!”

Albertie bought his winning ticket from the Flash Foods store at 925-A South 14th Street in Fernandina Beach.

The Lottery added CASH4LIFE to its portfolio of games on Feb. 17.

The popular multistate game offers two lifetime prizes with the chance to win $1,000 a day for life or $1,000 a week for life.

Florida is the ninth state to join Cash4Life. Game sales are expected to raise millions of additional dollars for education in Florida and increase commissions to the lottery’s more than 13,000 retailers.

The next Cash4Life drawing will be held Thursday at 9 p.m. in the New Jersey Lottery headquarters studio.

Live drawings can be viewed on the livestream and on the Florida Lottery website. Cash4Life winning numbers will also be available at Florida Lottery retailers statewide and by phone at (850) 921-PLAY.

The Florida Lottery is responsible for contributing more than $31 billion to education and sending more than 750,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.

The Florida Lottery reinvests 98 percent of its revenue back into the state's economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,000 retailers and transfers to education.

Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have paid more than $52.4 billion in prizes and made more than 1,900 people millionaires.
