North Fla. men accused of forcing, recording sex

Gainesville police: Middleburg man sexually assaulted woman, Jacksonville man recorded it

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - A man from Middleburg and another from Jacksonville were arrested Wednesday by Gainesville police officers after the pair were accused of getting a woman drunk and one of them having sex with her while the other recorded the whole incident on the victim's cell phone.

According to police, Alexander Sibilla, 19, is charged with false imprisonment, sexual assault and video voyeurism while Stephen Tran, 18, from Jacksonville, is charged with two counts of video voyeurism.

According to officers, the recording made in a unit at the Spyglass Apartments in southwest Gainesville during a party for a mutual friend. Investigators say the woman, also from Jacksonville, was friends with the men and was attending the party with them when she got drunk, and they took advantage of her.

"When the other suspect was actually videotaping the consensual encounter, that is when she decided she did not want to continue. The sexual activity ceased with Tran and then additional sexual activity from the second suspect began," said Officer Ben Tobias.

Police said Tran then recorded video clearly showing Sibilla having sex with the victim without her consent.  She was eventually able to able to escape and ran to a nearby gas station to get help.

"Sexual battery, no matter if it is stranger rape or if it is and acquaintance rape, either one of those is a very serious situation and we take the victim's care very seriously," said Tobias.

Investigators learned that the men had recorded and photographed her naked on separate occasions while she was unconscious, and then posted them using Snapchat.

Sibilla and Tran were booked into the Alachua County jail, where Sibilla was held on $75,000 bond and Tran on $50,000 bond.

Detectives say both men confessed.
