Police: Man stabs mother to death

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Police have arrested and charged a 36 year-old man with first-degree murder for stabbing his mother to death. 

According to police Micah Lee Hobbs told them he did it because she had been "controlling his money for too long."

The Ledger of Lakeland reports his grandmother heard the attack and called police.  When they arrived they found him several blocks from his house.  

According to Police Chief Gary Hester, Hobbs has been treated for mental issues.  When police found him, they say he was laughing.

The Ledger of Lakeland reports the grandmother found her daughter in a pool of blood.  Police say laying on top of her body was an 11-inch kitchen knife.
