The fire department said the man went into cardiac arrest and was hospitalized, but attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

The vice president of sales and marketing for developer Taylor Morrison's west Florida division told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that the man was a member of the framing crew.

Cammie Longenecker said the company "will be cooperating with all parties involved to understand and offer assistance." She also said the company will review its safety protocols for the dangers of thunder and lightning.
