Andrew Young to speak at Flagler College

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Civil Rights activist Andrew Young will speak at Flagler College later this month as part of the college's "Ideas and Images" program.

Young, formerly U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and mayor of Atlanta, worked under the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and was highly involved in civil rights protests in St. Augustine in the early 1960s.

Young's personal archives are the foundation for Flagler College's new Civil Rights Library of St. Augustine, an Internet-based multimedia archive documenting the St. Augustine Civil Rights Movement.

"A Conversation with Andrew Young" will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in the Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College, 14 Granada Street.
