Search for missing woman in St. Johns County

Barbara Parchem last seen Friday

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities in St. Johns County continue to search for a 67-year-old woman missing since Saturday morning.

Deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office along with air units were searching in the area of Vermont Heights for Barbara Parchem, who failed to show up for work on Saturday. Her family said her wallet and credits cards were left inside her home.

They said Parchem was upset about her husband's recent death.

"We have conducted a code red, which is like a prerecorded message to everyone in the area and the family members have been out with flyers," SJCSO Sgt. Skip Cole.

Parchem's daughter, Lilly Ann Schabez, said it's unlikely that Barbara would run off without telling someone. "It's so out of the norm. Anyone will tell you that's the one person you can count on to be there," Schabez said.

Parchem is 5-foot 8-inches tall, weighs 100 pounds, has brown eyes and short brown hair with blonde highlights.  She was last seen wearing dark pants, a gray hoodie and a dark shirt.

Deputies said they do not suspect foul play, but there is concern for her welfare based on recent medical events and statements she made to family members.

Anyone who has seen seen Parchem is asked to call 911 or the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at (904) 824-8304.
