St. Augustine woman killed, man injured in St. Augustine

St. Johns County deputies investigating double stabbing scene

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A 44-year-old woman was killed and a man stabbed early Tuesday morning in what was initially described as a home invasion in the 200 block of Duval Street early Tuesday morning.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office identified the woman killed as Stephanie Singleton-Gilliam, the mother of three, who lived at the home. She was the supervisor of the family law for the Clerk of Courts, where grief counselors were sent to meet with employees.

The second victim, who has not been identified, was treated and released at Flagler Hospital.  Investigators would not say if he was related to Gilliam.

Crime scene investigators spent the morning processing the house and detectives canvassed the neighborhood looking for witnesses. As of Tuesday afternoon, there had been no arrest.

Asked if residents in the area should be worried, St. Johns County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kevin Kelshaw said, "We're looking at all possibilities. We haven't ruled anything out yet."

Gilliam's cousin, Margaret, was among those standing outside the yellow police tape hoping to find out more about what happened.

"We don't have an idea of what's going on," she said. "I'm upset."

None of Gilliam's family members could think of any reason why anyone would want to hurt her.
