ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - A St. Johns County Sheriff's Office deputy was treated and released from the hospital Friday morning after she was bitten by a pit bull.  Her K9 was also bit during the incident and was checked out at a veterinary clinic.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the deputy and K-9 were tracking a 13-year-old auto theft suspect who'd just run from a stolen car in the West Augustine area when the pit bull attacked.

The deputy fired a shot at the pit bull, but missed.

Neither the dog and the juvenile were not caught.
