St. Johns County SWAT standoff ends peacefully

Armed man barricaded self inside home; negotiators got him out unharmed

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - An armed man who barricaded himself inside a home peacefully came out after negotiations with by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office SWAT team and hostage negotiators.

Investigators responded to the house in the Eagle Creek subdivision in St. Johns County sometime around 6 a.m. Friday.

It began as a domestic disturbance call, according to Sgt. Chuck Mulligan.

An armed man was inside the home and was very upset and uncooperative, Mulligan said. Officers said no one else was inside the home with the man.

The immediate neighborhood was not evacuated, but residents were called and told to stay indoors.

The incident ended in about an hour. According to Mulligan, if the man faces any charges, they will most likely be related to the domestic disturbance call.
