Truck crashes into poles, catches fire

Jacksonville man not hurt, 7-year-old passenger has minor injuries

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A Jacksonville man walked away from a fiery crash in St Johns County without any injuries Sunday. His 7-year-old passenger was taken to Baptist South with minor injuries.

Around 4:05 p.m. FHP and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash on CR-210 at St. Johns Parkway, across from the Walgreen's.

Troopers said a Toyota Tundra driven by Larry Evans, 71, of Jacksonville, lost control crashed into two JEA poles.

The accident caused a power line to break which started a brush fire in the nearby trees.

The truck also caught fire.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue was able to extinguish the fire once the power to the downed line was disconnected.

The crash shut down unknown portions of CR-210 while officials investigated. The traffic light was also out for a period of time.
