Survivors angry over 'Pain & Gain' adaptation

Families say portrayal not accurate of true story

MIAMI, Fla. - The coming action-comedy "Pain & Gain" has angered survivors of the crimes the movie is based upon.

The movie is adapted from a series of Miami New Times articles about a group of bodybuilders who hatch a get-rich-quick scheme by kidnapping, torturing and leaving Marc Schiller for dead. But he survived. Two decades later, Schiller says the movie does not accurately portray what happened.

The movie also details the murder of a Hungarian couple whose bodies were dismembered, dumped into drums and discarded across South Florida.

Former Miami-Dade police investigator Felix Jimenez says the cases were one of the biggest, and he's not surprised Hollywood made the film because it reads like a script.
