BRADENTON, Fla. - A teenage inmate who was mistakenly released from the Manatee County jail has been recaptured.
The State Attorney's Office reports that the 16-year-old boy was released Monday because of a clerical error and the re-arrested Wednesday afternoon at his home.
The teen had been facing two attempted murder charges for separate cases. The Bradenton Herald reports that the trial for one case was scheduled to begin Monday, but the charge was dismissed Friday due to lack of evidence.
Prosecutors say the teen was released because someone in the Manatee County clerk's office accidentally added the case number for the active charge to the paperwork for the dismissed charge.
