Tim Tebow among 5 being inducted into Florida Sports Hall of Fame

Bolles grad 'Chipper' Jones, FSU star Warrick Dunn also being honored

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Former Nease High School football player and Florida Gator great Tim Tebow will be one of five athletes inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame this year.

Two other inductees also have ties to Jacksonville: perennial Atlanta Braves all-star "Chipper" Jones, a Bolles graduate, and Colleen Walker, a Jacksonville native and former LPGA star who will be inducted posthumously.

Following a three-year NFL career that included stints with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, former Heisman trophy winner Tebow has turned his attention to baseball.

Jones, who was the first pick overall in the 1990 Major League Draft, had a stellar 19-year career with the Braves and is expected to be a first-ballot Hall of Fame selection.

Walker played college golf at Florida State University and won nine LPGA tournaments, inlcuding one major. She died in 2012 at age 56 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Other members of this year's class include FSU and Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Warrick Dunn, and former PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem.

Tebow is the youngest member of the incoming class.

The five inductees will be enshrined in a ceremony in Ponte Vedra Beach on Nov. 8.
