Woman shot dead in Orlando home invasion

Orange County deputies search for 3 intruders

ORLANDO, Fla. - A woman was shot and killed Wednesday morning in an Orlando home invasion while her toddler and infant were nearby, according to deputies.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was shot in the upper body around 4:20 a.m. at 3505 Millrace Court near Semoran Drive and Hoffner Avenue.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, three men kicked in the door of the home and shot a woman, described by deputies as in her 20s. The children, who deputies said were in the same room or nearby, were not injured.

Deputies said the assailants fled the area after stealing an undisclosed amount of case. There was no detailed description of the men.

Investigators do not believe that the shooting was a random act of violence, but no other details have been released.

The fatal shooting is not related to another fatal home invasion that occurred Tuesday night on Texas Avenue in Orange County.
