1 new death in Glynn; 61 new COVID-19 cases in Southeast Georgia

The Georgia Department of Public Health on Friday reported an additional 2,383 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of those cases, 61 were reported in the Southeast Georgia counties tracked by News4Jax.

As of Friday, a total of 382,505 confirmed cases had been reported by the state Department of Public Health.

The state Department of Public Health on Friday reported 22 additional deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the state’s total to 8,418. Glynn County reported one additional death Friday for 108 confirmed deaths total since the pandemic began.

According to the state Department of Public Health, 3,838,550 tests have been performed in the state, which had a 9.3% positivity rate, as of Friday.

Georgia is also now reporting antigen positive cases -- 37,365 -- and “probable" deaths -- 487. For more on those categories, click here.

On Friday, 142 hospitalizations were reported, bringing the state’s total to 33,089.

Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, breathing trouble, sore throat, muscle pain, and loss of taste or smell. Most people develop only mild symptoms. But some people, usually those with other medical complications, develop more severe symptoms, including pneumonia.
