Back to school tips for pre-k kids

Parents should inform teachers of any allergies and dietary restrictions

ATLANTA, Ga. - As kids get ready to go back to school, the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning wants to make sure pre-kindergartners are ready.

Department officials are offering tips for the parents whose kids are involved in the state's pre-kindergarten programs.

It starts before a child gets to the school.  Assistant Commissioner for Georgia's pre-k program Susan Adams says kids should be dressed in clothes they can independently manage.  Once they get to the school a parent should inform the teacher of any allergies or dietary restrictions.  Another thing to help out kids before their first day is to make sure they know where the restrooms are located.

Adams also suggests getting to school early to allow time for goodbyes.
