Man wanted in killing of child in Europe arrested in Kingsland

Police responding to intoxicated person find fugitive from Luxembourg

KINGSLAND, Ga. – A call about an intoxicated person at a fast-food restaurant in Kingsland early Sunday morning led police to arrest a South Carolina man who is wanted in Luxembourg, a small country near Germany, on a charge of murder of a child.

According to the Kingsland Police Department, officers responding at 3:30 a.m. to the Krystal and Flash Food on Highway 40 made contact with Ricardo Chaves Dos Santos, 31, of Charleston. Police said Santos was intoxicated and creating a disturbance.

Kingsland Officer Steve Cloud ran a routine inquiry on Dos Santos through the national crime database and found he was wanted on an outstanding warrant through the International Police Organization (INTERPOL) for the crime of murder of a child.

Dos Santos was booked into the Camden County jail without incident and the U.S. Justice Department was notified. Dos Santos was ordered held for extradition to Luxembourg.
