BRUNSWICK, GA. – A block party was held Friday evening in Brunswick in hopes of bringing positivity back to the community after the recent killing of a toddler.
Rachel Fitzpatrick is a Realtor and resident in Brunswick and loves where she lives, but is saddened by the recent fatal shooting of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago.

She said since the killing, there have been a lot of mixed emotions in the community. Some people are sad and some are fearful.
That's why Fitzpatrick decided to throw the block party. She hoped it will bring the community together and help ease the fears and sadness that residents are facing.
"I just love people and I think this an opportunity to show love because that is what our community does," Fitzpatrick said. "I moved down there recently and everyone has loved on me and welcomed me and I think this is an opportunity to do the same for the kids in our area."
The block party took place from 4-6 p.m. on Hanover Square in downtown Brunswick, which is a few blocks from where the shooting took place. Adults and children were welcome to attend.
Fitzpatrick hopes it will help people to move on and not live in fear.
"It's a good opportunity for people to start to heal," Fitzpatrick said. "We obviously need to move past it and don't ever want to forget and we want to love on the family affected by this absolutely but at the same time we want to be happy again and be at peace."
