ATLANTA, Ga. - Thursday is National Heatstroke Prevention Day and the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning wants to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of heat.

According to a statement from the department, it wants to educate the public about how heatstroke can occur.  To help spread awareness, spokesman Reg Griffin says, the department is teaming up with Safe Kids Worldwide and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The group will also inform people on ways to prevent heat-related injuries and ultimately prevent heat-related deaths from happening.

According to experts, the temperature doesn't have to be high for heatstroke to occur.  It can be as low as 57-degrees.
