Global Day of Prayer

WJXT Editorial by Vice President/General Manager Bob Ellis

This weekend the eyes of the world will be on the city of Jacksonville as we host the 2011 Global Day of Prayer. It's an opportunity for different denominations of Christians to demonstrate their ability to look past differences to worship, pray together and unite. The organization boasts a desire to help communities become involved in social issues like redeveloping urban areas, feeding the poor, and providing clothing to those who are in need.

It's a high honor for Jacksonville to be chosen as host city -- it's the first time this event has been held in the United States. Past host cities include Jerusalem, Hong Kong and Cape Town, South Africa.

The event will be broadcast live worldwide, and here at Channel 4 we are proud to be the only station in Jacksonville providing coverage of this historic event. On Saturday night from 8pm until 10pm, we'll have coverage from inside Veterans Memorial Arena. We hope you'll make a point to watch.
