JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A water main break flooded the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and McDuff Avenue on Christmas.
JEA crews worked to repair the water main Friday night and into Saturday morning.
The water main break put a damper on people's holiday season, but many were glad that JEA crews worked quickly to fix the break.
"Thank you very much for working on Christmas Day and getting things back together for everyone. It was very nice they worked really hard to get it back. Thanks guys. You did a great job," said Linda Lynn, a resident.
Lynn said she can now wash her dishes from Christmas dinner.
"We had a house full of family for Christmas dinner. It really didn't mess up a lot. There were a few things, I couldn't finish up the dishes were the main thing," said Lynn.
JEA said the 20-inch main broke before 4 p.m. on Christmas and knocked out water to about 300 people in the area.
Roads were closed at South McDuff Avenue between Roosevelt Boulevard and Old Roosevelt.
The I-10 westbound exit to Roosevelt Boulevard was also closed for hours while JEA worked to relieve the flooding.
Lynn said she was lucky that her water was only off for about three hours.
There is no word what caused the break.
