Jacksonville police: Guns, drugs found after domestic dispute call

Argument over vaccines for 2-month-old son turns to threats, police say

A 35-year-old Jacksonville man is facing domestic violence and drug charges after police said he threatened to kill his girlfriend when she said she was moving out and taking their 2-month-old son with her.

Police said Alexander Brown IV and his girlfriend were arguing about vaccines on their way home from a doctor's appointment for the baby when the girlfriend said she was moving out of Brown's home.

He warned her that over his dead body was she going to take his son away from him and then yelled, “I will kill you, but it's not a threat,” according to the police report.

Police said Brown took their son to his mother, who lives nearby, and then came back to find the girlfriend packing to leave. He brandished a black revolver with a wooden handle in his waist band as he again said she was taking his son over his dead body, according to the report.

When police arrived at the home off Belfort Road they heard the two arguing and smelled marijuana inside the home.

A search turned up five loaded guns, powder cocaine and marijuana, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Brown, who has since been released on bond, was charged with domestic assault without intent to kill, possession of over 20 grams of marijuana and possession of cocaine.

The girlfriend, who was not injured in the incident, took the baby to her mother's home, police said.
