JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man's body was found in a ditch Friday morning on Bowden Road South, off Belfort Road, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
It's unclear how the man died, but police said evidence seems to indicate he was hit by a vehicle and was thrown or rolled about 8 feet into the ditch along the side of the road.

Police said a neighbor came out at 11 p.m. Thursday to check his mail and didn't see the body, but when he came out just before 10 a.m. the next day, the body was in the ditch.
Investigators are waiting for the Medical Examiner's Office to determine the man's cause of death before they proceed with the investigation as either a homicide or traffic homicide.
The man appears to be a white male in his 40s, but police have not released his identity.
