Teen found shot, killed on Detroit Street identified

Police seek witnesses, surveillance video

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 18-year-old man fatally shot Sunday in the city's Woodstock neighborhood early Sunday morning has been identified as Tradarius Rashaud Alexander.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responding to Detroit Street near Commonwealth Avenue about 6:20 a.m. found the man dead in the middle of the street. Police said he suffered at least one gunshot wound.

Alexander lived on Hartridge Street, less than a half mile from where he was found dead. When releasing his name on Tuesday, police only said this continues to be an active investigation.

A neighbor told News4Jax that hearing a man was found shot to death is no surprise to him, saying he hears “too many gunshots” in the area.

According to records, within the last month, there's been three burglary calls, two reports of grand theft, two domestic violence calls, and two car thefts within a mile radius of this shooting.

“We will continue to canvas and talk to neighbors in an attempt to locate witnesses,” an officer told News4Jax on Sunday. “If anyone saw anything, if they can contact us, we would appreciate that. We are going to check all the residences to see if anyone has video”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
