2 arrested in killing at Arlington apartment complex

Police say men were involved in drug deal

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two men were arrested in connection with the shooting death of another man at an Arlington apartment complex last week.

Jacksonville police said Jimmie Gardner and Bryan Flowers, both 26, shot and killed 33-year-old Edward Williams III in the parking lot of the Arlington Village Apartments at 840 Bert Road about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the men were involved in a drug deal.

"Both suspects shot the victim repeatedly in the head," said Lt. Rob Schoonover, of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Williams was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he died.

The suspects were arrested separately on Thursday and Friday on murder charges. Police said they were identified in photo spreads by witnesses.
