2 hit by car crossing stret in Jacksonville Beach

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Two pedestrians were hospitalized Saturday night after they were hit by a car crossing Third Street North.

According to Jacksonville Beach police, the two were crossing west to east one block north of Beach Boulevard were hit by a vehicle. Police said two were not in a crosswalk when they stepped into the road. A vehicle in the outside lane stopped to let them cross, but the driver of a car in the inside lane of traffic reported not seeing the pedestrians and struck them.

One victim was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center. The other was taken to Beaches Baptist, then flown to Shands.

Jacksonville Beach police Public Information Officer Tommy Crumley said  neither injury was life-threatening and both were released on Monday. Their names were not released.

Police said no charges have been fired, but the investigation is ongoing.
