2013 Jacksonville Jazz Festival performers named

The Yellowjackets are one of the major label acts that will perform at the 2013 Jacksonville Jazz Festival.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city on Friday announced some of the headlining musicians and other details of the 2013 Jacksonville Jazz Festival.

This year's event will be held at three venues downtown from Thursday May 23 through Sunday May 26.

Some of this year's confirmed performers include BWB, featuring Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown, Euge Groove, Gerald Albright, Gregory Porter, Poncho Sanchez and the Yellowjackets.

In addition to music on three stages, there will also be the Art in the Heart Downtown art show and sale, the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition on Thursday night, a youth jazz talent showcase, jazz brunch, exhibits and displays.

"The Jazz Festival is a signature event for our city and a reason for each of us to be proud," said Mayor Alvin Brown. "It's an opportunity for friends and families to get together and see our Downtown at its best, and my administration is proud to present a lineup of world class entertainment at no cost for general admission."

Also Friday, the city unveiled the 2013 festival poster (pictured, right), titled Jax Beat Jumpin', created by Mike Barnhart.

The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is free and open to the public unless otherwise listed.
